Unfortunately it’s stopped working all the water goes straight into the drip tray without going through the coffee. The wand tip on the Barista Express is a single-hole tip, which restricts the steam power slightly compared to machines which have a four-holed tip, for example (The Barista Pro and the Bambino Plus have four-hole tips), and OK this does slow down the overall steaming time by a handful of seconds, but it also makes it a particularly forgiving steam wand for beginners.

Hi Kev, thanks so much for your excellent review of these machines, and for your equally good video comparisons. There are quite a few videos about this machine on Youtube, and most of them I watched and literally had applications. The difference between the old BES870UK and new BES875UK model is the temperature control jug, which has an integrated thermometer indicator strip. It wont stop for instance until the shot button is pushed again if the program button has been pushed. When set to auto, auto light illuminated, sometimes it grinds for as long as it should, other times as soon as I remove my finger from the button the grinder stops.The Barista Express™ allows you to grind the beans right before extraction, and its interchangeable filters and a choice of automatic or manual operation ensure authentic café style results in no time at all.

I drink espresso mainly and would occasionally use the steam wand for trying my hand at a flat white.NO, I swear that what I got was a brand new machine, properly boxed and packaged, in a Sage, branded package, which looked liked it had never been opened, all the accessories were in their own Sage branded boxes, and the whole thing was just totally unexpected. I’d be happy to determine the required grind and dose for a given blend of coffee, but at the moment it is too much hastle.
