About this deal

The course's extreme focus on self, on ME - isn't this contrary to becoming spiritual - wouldn't the emphasis be on the divine, on God? It's mostly a big collection of anecdotes, which as most will understand aren't much use to establish the truth of anything. When I started reading this fine book, I was what Tim Stafford labels a "Semi-Believing Doubter" on the subject of present-day miracles.

At 6 years of age I had an illness resulting in being hospitalised for 9 months, and not expected to live. The original document features illustrations of famous biblical stories - like Noah's Ark and Moses parting the Red Sea - plus numerous historical 'happenings' that were simply beyond the comprehension of Renaissance Europe such as comets and eclipses, floods and storms, earthquakes, malformed animals, plagues, and monsters. Similarly, Jesus performed healings when asked by John’s disciples if He was the Messiah — the acts pointed to the answer. Rediscovered a few years ago, an illustrated manuscript from 1550s Augsburg, Germany, shows awe-inspiring tales of the Old Testament, the Book of Revelation and contemporary events. He argues that rather than being mutually exclusive, miracles are definite interventions that go beyond natural laws.Coincidently, seeing me walk in with the Waterstones bag nearly gave my partner a heart attack as he had bought me books for my birthday as well. I sometimes read books in a single sitting, which are extremes for sure, but a book a week is certainly no rarity. As a wanton nomad she and her husband are unsure which country they currently reside in but they can generally be found surrounded by their fiendish pack of cats and dogs.

As a Christian, I am not totally shut off from other spiritual books; I do not consider myself so dogmatic as to not consider other ways to grow more spiritual. The older I get, the more I realize two things: (1) That pain and suffering are a part of this life, and that everyone goes through their share of tribulations, and (2) There is a deeper reality that undergirds and intersects with our known natural world. I'm surprised by how many people have become 'hooked' on it; what's going on inside their minds and souls? It does aim, however, at removing the blocks to the awareness of love's presence, which is your natural inheritance. This is helpful for Christians who come up repeatedly against the various byproducts of naturalism within science and culture. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Furthermore it puts to bed many mysteries from my pre-teen years and then to a lesser extent my tumultuous teen years. Lewis uses the incarnation as an example: if Christian concepts of a creator and sin are accepted, such an event may not seem quite so unreasonable as first supposed. In each case, to assume the veracity of the conclusion would eliminate the possibility of valid grounds from which to reach it.

I hate to see those that misrepresent God’s power and healing and the miraculous be the main ones representing it.Sometimes, when sessions came to an end I would inquire as to what helped the most in their sessions. I have personally known two people that once spoke in tongues when part of a charismatic Christian group. If a miracle might appear plausible given what is known about such a being, straightforward, historical evidence is more likely to be convincing. First, it is difficult to wade through the cumbersome prose, and I consider myself well-read and -educated.
