About this deal

The fourth and final section (“Summer”) takes place after Pecola loses her mind. In the beginning, Claudia and Frieda learn that Pecola has been impregnated by her father. The sisters hope that the baby will not die; they pray for it and even offer a sacrifice (a bicycle) to God. Meanwhile, Pecola converses with an unidentified person—presumably, herself—about her new blue eyes, which she still thinks “aren’t blue enough.” In the final moments of the novel, the adult Claudia tells the reader that Pecola gave birth prematurely and the baby did not survive. Origin and analysis A strong impact of the temperate surface-dwelling species N. incompta ( Schiebel and Hemleben, 2000; Schiebel et al., 2002a; Rebotim et al., 2017) on the SIMMAX SST su record becomes most evident in the close match between the SIMMAX SST record and the inverse record of N. incompta abundance ( Figure 5). This record shows an increasing abundance of N. incompta during the cold YD, whereas the subtropical G. ruber become rare, <4% ( Figure 3A). Thus, N. incompta becomes one of the dominant species during the YD and its abundance pattern becomes similar to the pattern of the SIMMAX SST record ( Figure 5). During this time-period, stratification of the surface water column was different from the modern, and a stronger increase of subsurface than shallow-dwelling species probably led to an increased effect of subsurface conditions on the SST reconstruction. Thus, SIMMAX SST cannot exclusively be regarded as a surface water signal in this part of the YD record given the complex hydrological situation at the AF. As soon as the G. ruber population recovers in the MH, SIMMAX SSTs seem to reflect surface temperatures again. The blue bottle is used for haematology tests involving the clotting system, which require inactivated whole blood for analysis. Additive The pink bottles work in the same way as the purple ones, but are specifically used only for whole blood samples being sent to the transfusion lab. Additive This tube is known in the lab as the SST ( serum separating tube). It contains two agents; silica particles and a serum separating gel. The silica particles work to activate clotting and cause the blood cells to clump together. The serum separator consists of an inert polymer gel which floats as a layer between the blood cells and plasma to form a physical barrier between them. The sample can be centrifuged (spun) in the lab, and the separated serum easily removed. Tests Biochemistry tests

The blue bottle must be inverted 3-4 times to mix the sample with the anticoagulant. The sodium citrate liquid in the bottle dilutes the blood sample, and the machines in the lab are specifically calibrated to interpret results based on a set ratio of blood to anticoagulant. Therefore, the bottle must be filled to the line marked around its edge to ensure the tests are interpreted accurately – otherwise, the samples may be over-anticoagulated. U K′ 37 SST reflect surface water temperatures in the upper 50 m during late spring and show the well-known deglacial North Atlantic succession of warm and cold events. U K′ 37 SST may underestimate the overall deglacial temperature amplitudes and the magnitude of short-term cooling events (e.g., H1, IACP, and 8.2-ka-BP-Event) that interrupt the long-term deglacial and Holocene SST evolution due to changes in phenology. The pink tube needs inverting about 8 times to mix the sample with the EDTA. It should contain at least 1ml of blood, but more is preferred by the labs if possible. It has a special label that must be carefully filled in by hand at the bedside to ensure the correct patient details are used, preventing potentially catastrophic mismatched blood transfusions. If you need blood for a patient urgently or have any unusual or complicated requests, you must ring the transfusion lab and let them know. These days, the book is considered an American classic: Not only is it frequently on the lists of literary greats and widely read by students of literature, it’s also taught in schools. 10. The Bluest Eye has been frequently banned. The amount of blood required will depend on how many tests you’re doing, but at least 1ml is ideal. You can usually get about 12 tests from one full yellow bottle. Remember that different labs may be located in different areas and technicians don’t like sharing – this means you’ll need to put your biochemistry and microbiology samples in separate yellow bottles to go to their respective laboratories.

Author contributions This indicates that SIMMAX SST reconstructions react in a different way to AF position changes than the other proxies. This could be caused either by an underestimation of Mg/Ca SST Gr, Mg/Ca SST Gb and U K′ 37 SST amplitudes or by an overestimation of the cooling amplitude by SIMMAX SST.
