SuperSolutions 10% Azelaic Acid Serum a fast-absorbing, non-pilling serum formulated with 10% Azelaic Acid to help reduce the appearance of redness, giving the skin a more even complexion. Instantly soothes and calms skin that feels irritated. The Inkey List's 2% Alpha Arbutin Serum instead contains Squalane, Soybean Oil, Tocopherol, and Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, which all help to support the skin's natural moisture barrier. There's no real evidence of optimizing the pH of the formula, though, so unfortunately with a pH of 5.98 it sits well outside the ideal pH of ~4.9 (although just inside the required range of 3.5-6.6). The formula is also slightly more viscous than The Ordinary's serum due to the inclusion of Squalane (which doesn't necessarily affect efficacy, but it's still worth noting for the sake of preference). CAN I USE THIS PRODUCT WITH VITAMIN C?To avoid irritation, we recommend to use Redness Relief Solution with 10% Azelaic Acid in a separate routine to Vitamin C. If you use Vitamin C, opt to use Redness Relief Solution with 10% Azelaic Acid in your AM routine and / or your PM routine when you are not using Vitamin C. At the heart of both serums is a blend of powerful acids. The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution features Glycolic Acid, Lactic Acid, Tartaric Acid, and Citric Acid (all Alpha Hydroxy Acids), as well as Salicylic Acid (a Beta Hydroxy Acid). Acne, Rosacea, and redness all have one thing in common - Inflammation. Inflammation is a natural defence mechanism that our immune system initiates to protect us and our skin from foreign bodies and aid wound healing. Unfortunately, as a result of this overprotective mechanism and the increased blood flow to the area, swelling and redness can occur. Research suggests Azelaic Acid as an ingredient can help to reduce the appearance of this redness and calm the skin.Azelaic Acid is an ingredient that wasn’t that well known in the skincare industry until some time ago. Other key INKEY List products to help reduce facial redness include; Oat Cleansing Balm, Hyaluronic Acid Serum, Niacinamide Serum and Omega Water Cream. Our Redness Solution Routine is a 4-step complete skincare routine to visibly reduce the appearance of redness and soothe skin that feels irritated.

A complete skincare routine to help reduce the appearance of redness, giving the skin a more even complexion. Instantly soothes and calms skin that feels irritated. I have also found that I’m less inclined to breakout when using this, thanks to the antibacterial properties. In the event I do get the odd breakout, this really helps minimise any dark spots left by the spot. Formulation: Though typically available as a serum, you can also find it in cleansers, face masks, creams and gels. Only for its exfoliating and breakout reducing properties. To target my redness, I would buy the FaceTheory instead. I personally saw better results from the FaceTheory serum. Everyone’s skin reacts differently to different products. You may see excellent results from this and nothing from the FaceTheory. I feel The Inkey List really do make some excellent products, so it’s always worth giving this a try if you concerns are redness, texture issues or mild breakouts. I wouldn’t not recommend it, but I think personally I’d suggest the FaceTheory serum over this one. Brands Product Description Azelaic acid can be naturally found in wheat, rye, and barley, but it can also be synthetically made in a lab, which is the case when it comes to being used in skincare products due to its effectiveness and stability. Benefits of Azelaic Acid in Skincare Products. DISCLAIMER: 4 day independent clinical study (under dermatological control) of 22 people with Rosacea-prone skin.

Redness is caused by extra blood rushing towards the surface of the skin. Redness can be a symptom of skin conditions such as Rosacea or more short-term side effect of environmental activities, such as workouts, spending time in warm climates or it can even be a seasonal occurrence. No, you don’t need to add products into your skincare routine simply because someone raves about them. Azelaic acid is a tyrosinase inhibitor, which means it helps to even out your skin tone and prevent and treat hyperpigmentation due to conditions like melasma, Westbay told us. It can also lighten post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from acne including dark spots (which are most often seen in people who have darker skin tones), and red scars (most commonly seen on fair skin tones), according to Westbay. It does so by acting as an inhibitor of tyrosinase, the enzyme responsible for making melanin. When you’re assessing an HA serum, you want to consider how much of the active ingredient is in the serum, what other ingredients are used in the product, the texture, and the efficacy. We’ll use all of these criteria to decide which wins our vote as best overall hyaluronic acid serum! However, I managed to find out that I was using a tad bit too much of this product and this was what was causing the pilling. Apparently, all you need is a pea-size amount for the entire face and I, admittedly, might have done a little more than that.

The Ordinary Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 Serum is vegan, cruelty free and completely clean. It gets even better as we look at the specific ingredients. The key ingredients include sodium hyaluronate, sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer, and vitamin B5. Sodium hyaluronate is the sodium sister of HA, which chemists agree can be used interchangeably. Sodium hyaluronate crosspolymer is a magical HA mesh that can bind 5 times more water than regular HA, which is already incredible at 1,000 times its body weight! As an added bonus, it’s also an antioxidant! The final ingredient is vitamin B5, a powerful moisturizing agent. Combined, these ingredients give The Ordinary’s Hyaluronic Acid triple moisturizing properties! The Ordinary is extremely popular for their low prices and ridiculously affordable but excellent products, however, they are also known for giving you one active ingredient per product, hence the low prices. So, if you are ready to try Azelaic Acid because literally everyone and their grandma raves about it these days, chances are you are going to buy one of these two. There's still a lot to be said for the acids that The Inkey List's Peel contains that The Ordinary's doesn't, though. Those fruit acids that we just pooh-poohed offer some incredible anti-aging, moisturizing, and softening benefits that you wouldn't typically find in a peeling solution. To highlight a few in particular, Acetic Acid targets blemish-causing bacteria (great for those with acne-related concerns), Ferulic Acid helps reduce inflammation, signs of aging, and evens the skin's tone, and Glutamic Acid helps bind water molecules within the skin, thus helping maintain your skin's moisture balance.
