About this deal

The filament is produced from premium ingredients, with tight tolerances on our automated production line and comes in a resealable bag for convenient use. Spools are made from recycled plastic waste. There is significant sophistication in slicers already for infills. There might be infills superior to the one being used here. If not it should be possible to design that infill method into the slicer. That way you don’t have to spend time modelling it.

Because of the expanding nature of the material, users can reduce flow while still printing dimensionally accurate models. Users can achieve a weight reduction of 65% compared to conventional PLA. PolyLite™ LW-PLA is not an active foaming filament, which means it will not foam when extruded from the nozzle depending on the temperature. PolyLite™ LW-PLA is already pre-foamed.We need challenging materials, we need to work with or find ways around the limitations and allow more people to experiment with exciting developments like this foaming PLA.” – Richard Horne, aka RichRap3D G-code files are provided for you to start with both 0.3mm and 0.4mm nozzle. If you have 0.4mm Nozzle, you may want to try G-code files for 0.3mm nozzle and see if the Nozzle still can print with acceptable quality. You may notice that the result will have 20% – 30% less weight with regular PLA or PLA+. LW-PLA filament can be printed with both 0.3mm and/or 0.4mm nozzle. ColorFabb používá následující proces o 4 krocích k určení maximální expanze při dané rychlosti, teplotě a průtoku: We chose to make the material in light grey colour, that’s the most universal base colour for painting. Models printed in light grey are not translucent and therefore it’s easier to create a good-looking scale paint job. Parts can be easily sanded to make a nice surface finish. High quality and eco friendly Yellowing of printed parts after high temperature foaming is a normal phenomenon. Lowering the printing temperature can relieve it.

There are many different kinds of PLA plastic, but the common factor among all of them is that they are made from organic material. Its properties are similar to those of polystyrene (PS), polyethylene (PE) and Polypropylene (PP). PLA is regarded as “thermoplastic”, which refers to the way in which it responds to heat. You need to print at very high temperature to achieve light weight results (~250˚), these high temperatures will create a lot of defects on the print such as stringing and blobs. It is also a favorite among 3D printing enthusiasts. There are at least four different types of plastic that can be used for 3D printing, each with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. The two most commonly used types of plastic that are used in 3D printing are ABS and PLA plastic. They are both thermoplastics, which means that they heat up and change form when heated, and solidify again when cooled down, without losing their structural integrity. LW-PLA was developed under our new colorFabb Labs program. colorFabb Labs is dedicated to bring more innovative materials faster to the market. It is colorFabb’s aim to meet customers’ needs in terms of materials and 3D printing services. Stay tuned for more exciting developments this year. The next best PLA adhesive is epoxy resin. It is an extremely versatile bonding agent that is used in a variety of contexts (3D printing being one of them). We recommend this as the next best thing after super glue because, like superglue, the bond that epoxy creates is exceptionally strong. If your surfaces are not flush (i.e. the surfaces are not completely flat, resulting in small gaps), these gaps can be filled by the epoxy. This filament creates strong, lightweight parts with great surface finish and it sands very well (better than normal PLA)”

On the left we printed the same gcode using regular PLA, on the right our colorFabb LW-PLA showing the expanding properties enabling 0.6mm layerheight from a 0.4mm nozzle. Temperature As you can see, plastic in all of its shapes and forms has a lot going for it, if you are looking for a durable material that has a wide variety of uses and that can be produced relatively cheaply. And, while most plastics take longer than our lifetimes to decompose, causing worlds of problems for the environment, the problem of pollution is solved by plastics like Polylactic Acid (PLA) plastics. Note that the first layer speed setting is consistent with the actual printing speed, set to 100% of the actual printing speed, turn off the first layer and small area printing speed reduction function, the first layer extrusion rate is consistent with the actual foaming extrusion rate, such as 270 degrees set to 45% of the first layer extrusion rate; if the bed adhesion is too strong, you can set the bottom valve when printing.

Step 4. The cube with the perimeter that equals the nozzle diameter is the lowest usable flow. Expect flows around 35-50%. With one spool LW-PLA you can print as much as with 3 regular spools of PLA, due to the 3x lower material multiplier / flow.
