One other clarification worth mentioning is that the new USB Type-C fast charging tech has Type-C connections on both the charger and the device whereas most of the current charging tech have USB A connections on the charger and USB micro-B connections on the device. Iused 1kΩ and 4.7kΩ resistors to create voltage dividers that I could control with a microcontroller. With a voltage of 3.3V on top of the bridge, that would give me right around 0.6V in the middle. According to the data sheet I used, the signals levels we need are: 3.3V, 0.6V, 0V, or disconnected. On the other hand, most modern smartphones support PD charging. These include all Apple phones starting with the iPhone 8. Buy QC 3.0 accessories. The standard is pretty new, so you should get a good amount of use from them. That said, for Android devices that support both standards, QC 3.0 is generally faster. The reason for this is INOV technology. PD charging won’t always have an exact wattage or voltage that matches your device’s needs. If it doesn’t, it will default to the next lowest power level. With QC 3.0’s INOV technology, you’ll always get the maximum voltage. Again, the exact difference will depend on your device. On some phones, the difference is not noticeable, while it can be significant on other devices. Power Delivery: While both QC2.0 and QC3.0 offer various voltage levels for power delivery, QC3.0 provides more precise voltage increments. QC2.0 offered three voltage levels (5V, 9V, and 12V), whereas QC3.0 expanded this range, providing even more options for devices to negotiate their optimal charging voltage.
