You’re virtually guaranteed a Zermatt snowfall. The tiny village will be covered in white and bright lights, with the mountain peaks looming overhead. Your ears will take in the sounds of church and sleigh bells while your stomach will seemingly always have more room for fondue. The plot revolves around a woman (Egan) and a soldier (Blucas) who exchange letters for a year before their worlds collide. To get a big promotion, Hayley, an advertising executive who specializes in social media and all things hip, must land a toy company that is all about traditional Christmas as an account. Because of the elevation, the Zermatt snow report typically looks fantastic! It even snowed a couple of feet on Christmas Day for our first truly white Christmas. This is a a very cute Christmas romance I absolutely loved! Perfect clean holiday romance that will make you feel good. In a world where the holidays are run by the efficient Bureau of Yuletide Affairs, a bitter and burned-out Ghost of Christmas Past decides to go AWOL while on a "mission" and leave his "target" stranded in 1965. I have watched it a few times and one of my top 5 hallmark Christmas movies of all time. The characters worked so well together and chemistry came in spades. The key was the movie worked. A teenager has his Sitka Spruce tree chosen to be planted outside the White House as the new national Christmas Tree. One of the fundamental ingredients of a Christmas movie is a heartwarming atmosphere. Though An Unforgettable Christmas possesses joyfulness, it feels forced, as do most situations in the story. One of the worst segments shows Lucy Lovett (yep, we even have cute names thrown in) losing her memory. Lucy's rushing down a snowy street when distracted by a street corner Santa and ends up arse-over-head on the pavement - insert retrograde amnesia here. The trouble with the sequence is that it's poorly written and unexceptionably filmed. Worst still, this is merely the opening, and the rest of the film follows a similar style. Even with the likes of Mr Christmas, Andrew Walker, portraying the male romantic lead, Zach, the cast does little to lift this Christmas Turkey out of its stereotypical funk. Lamentably, a few of the performers add to the movie's funkiness. On her way to a new job as teacher, Lauren stops in Grandon Falls, where she meets and befriends single handyman Travis, his foster kid and many other locals in the weeks up to Christmas.

The Scottish capital promises six weeks of festive events and celebrations in the run up to the big day. Visit Santa Land on Princes Street Garden with its Elves' Workshop and a Christmas Maze, or potter around the twinkling chalets at Edinburgh Christmas Market on East Princes Street Gardens. Book a festive escape in the Kent countryside and enjoy Christmas at Bedgebury, a dazzling after-dark trail through Bedgebury National Pinetum. One of the south's most popular festive events, it invites you to see Bedgebury in a different light as you explore the mile-long illuminated trail through the forest. You can dive through sparkling tunnels of light, see floating lights on the lake and even Santa himself makes an appearance in his alpine cabin in the woods. The amnesia was original in it's own respect, however, it was presented a bit oddly. Why was everyone so calm and blasé about it? Acute memory loss is usually indicative of a traumatic brain injury (even in light of the negative brain scans). Also, it's strange how a person's very essence could shift 180 degrees to the point they have been lying to themselves, and all of their friends so profoundly. The amnesia seems a cry for help. But it's all part of the mystery.Yes, we broke with tradition by not spending it with our families. But, by spending Christmas in Zermatt, we alsofound the holiday cheer we were looking for by making new traditions and creating the holiday we wanted! (By the way, we did some shopping for our friends & family. Especially the ones who love the outdoors!) I enjoyed the little breadcrumbs the writer(s) gave us along the way to indicate the mystery behind past events. These were interwoven precisely leading to the reveal. I felt it was almost masterful in that respect (for a Hallmark film), but the ending was a bit predictable. On the other hand, although predictable, the last 15 minutes were really good, as were the first 30 minutes. The rest is ordinary. At night, you can take a wander around St Nicholas Fair. Fairy-lit alpine chalets line Parliament Street and St Sampson’s Square where local traders sell cutesy craft gifts and artisan produce. Finish off the yuletide experience with Christmas carols by candlelight in York Minster. The main road, Bahnhofstrasse, sparkles with Christmas lights and the warm glow of the many shops and restaurants. Occasionally, a horse and carriage push pedestrians aside with the clip-clopping of hooves nearing close behind.
